As part of the ongoing military effort for defence Preston dc/dc converters especially designed for navy use are in production for use by the Australian armed forces.

The product is a compact, cylindrical, highly efficient, and RFI quiet, isolated step down converter of 14kW to power remote underwater vehicles for Navy use (input 1.8kV-4.2kV, output 350VDC at 40 amps)

This product is now 190mm long and 280mm in diameter - compressible to fit in a cylinder and then expanding to allow heat transfer to vessel walls.
